- Everyone is a horrible, conniving asshole except for that one good guy that gets screwed over. (Check)
- Tons of political intrigue with every character displaying exceptional foresight that borders on psychic abilities. (Check)
- Random sex scenes, especially at the beginning of the series. (Check)
Don't get me wrong, I love Game of Thrones. I just find the similarity between the two shows amusing. Although the 2nd attribute has become rather unbelievable over time. Although the protagonist of the show does make mistakes, I feel as though he is a little too good at planning things out. A little too good at predicting how several different people, with attitudes and dispositions that change on a dime, will react to a conversation.
Thankfully it is not nearly as terrible as the all-time best planner, Michael, from the series "Prison Break". The story revolves around Michael, who breaks into a high security prison to free his innocent brother. I have to admit, Michael did go all out when it comes to planning. I mean, he tattooed the blueprints of the prison on his body (yes this looked as ridiculous as it sounds). Where was I going with this... oh yeah, I like "House of Cards" as well as "Game of Thrones". And if you like one and haven't seen the other, I am betting you would like it. Also "Prison Break" should die a horrible death. Oh and "Lost" can burn with it.
How does this relate to my father? I am glad you asked! This show mirrors my father's views of politicians quite closely. I feel like I am transported into his perceptive reality when I watch this show sometimes. Although, I think to be even more like his views it would need to have much more deceit, maybe even some cold-blooded killing and a few "down with the people!" chants. I love my dad... he just can sometimes get carried away is all. I would like to have at least some faith in our government. I think there is definitely a fair amount of corruption, but there are also the "good guys", like Peter Russo from the show. That may not be the best example though as he kind of turns into an asshole... but oh well. Maybe, my view is most people enter office trying to do good for the country and end up corrupted by Keven Spacey. I mean, when I think corruption, he is the first person to pop in my head. Fuck that guy.
Overall, the show is great. Give it a look. 9/10 so far, although I am only halfway through the 13 episodes. So far it is intelligent and witty with great acting and flow.
